Cylinder Head Manufacturing and Assembly

Detroit, MI –
IIC offers a wide range of capabilities that are showcased by the manufacturing and assembly of cylinder heads.
- Raw castings are received, inspected and identified.

- Castings are machined in multiple operations.
5-Axis machining

Lathe operation

- Part Identification and serialization for traceability.

- Machined parts go through multiple areas of inspection and verification.
CMM Inspection

Ultrasonic Testing

Manual Inspection. Surface finish using a profilometer

- Pre-assembly pressure testing. Checking internal circuits for external and internal cross-circuit leaking.

- Precision cleaning. Parts must go through a wash process to remove any internal contaminants such as coolant, oils, rust, machining chips or any other possible contaminants.

- Component assembly. Component parts must be sourced or purchased with an exact inventory count constantly maintained.

- Post-assembly pressure test. Additional pressure testing to verify assembly functionality.

- Assembled part packing. Assemblies must be packaged carefully using VCI paper and bags in order to prevent rust or contamination. Part damage and identification must also be considered when packaging. AIAG labels assure proper identification.
